Butterfly and Hummingbird Gardening Florida Natives Under the Jakfruit Tree

Three different Porterweed species, one native, Stachytarpheta jamaicensis (Blue Porterweed), and two non-native species, Stachytarpheta miniacea (Red Porterweed) and Stachytarpheta mutabilis (Giant Pink Porterweed). All three of these plants are excellent nectar sources for butterflies and hummingbirds. They vary in size from the native blue porterweed growing to 1-2 feet, the red porterweed 2-3 feet, and the pink porterweed can attain a height of 3-6 feet. They flower year-round giving color to any butterfly garden.
